The departure
October 2028. That is the date we have set ourselves to cast off and sail around the world. Everything we have done to the boat since 2025 is measured against it.

What is left to do before then
The countdown is not decoration: every item below has to be finished before we leave, and each one has a cost, set out on the budget page.
- The rigging — the standing rigging replaced in full. The biggest job left, and the one we cannot get wrong: it is what holds the masts up.
- The hull below the waterline — finish protecting the hull after the stripping and the new skin fittings.
- The deck — redo the seams and make it watertight again.
- Power — finish the 24 V installation: solar panels and the forward battery.
- Engine and circuits — service, filters, pumps.
Following the countdown
We write it all up as it happens: what moves forward, what gets stuck, and what it costs. The logbook for the week-by-week detail, the yard letter for a monthly summary.
