Start here
You have come from YouTube, or someone sent you a link. There are dozens of videos and pages pointing in every direction. Here is the shortest way to understand what we are building — six steps, about twenty minutes.
01
Who we are and why we are doing this
An engineer and a coach, two ways of approaching the same boat. What made us want to leave, and why we went at it by building something rather than by walking out.
02
The boat
CQS Evidence, a 1979 CNSO Mikado ketch, 16 metres. Her specification, her history, and the state she was in when we took her on.
03
What it really costs
The page we wish we had found when we were looking for a boat. Every line, every euro, what has been paid and what is still to come. Nothing rounded off.
04
The refit, week by week
The logbook. It covers the engine starting again after three years just as much as the weekends when nothing worked.
05
The tools we give away
Two free calculators — the real cost of a second-hand boat and the electrical configurator — and practical guides written out of our own jobs.
06
The departure
October 2028. The countdown is running, and everything we do is measured against that date.
Three posts to get a feel for it
- The €14,000 debt I never saw coming — because we write up what goes wrong too.
- One week to rewire the whole boat — the most technical job so far.
- The engine runs, the teak lives again, the ceilings come down — the most recent one.
Keeping up
The simplest way is the yard letter: once a month, the real progress, what it costs and what we learn. Otherwise we put out a video regularly on YouTube, and the day-to-day of the refit goes on Instagram.
And if you make marine equipment, or you want to come alongside the project, it is all on the partners page, audience figures included.
